OPRAH SITE DENIES STATEMENT ON SHAMCEY
Ayan Kasi… yesterday my FB feed was full of that Oprah statment on Shamcey, when I checked the links, there was really no NBC source so I already felt that it might not be true, just more Pinoy Pride validation bullshit. Ka-puri-puri naman talaga si Shamcey, what irks me is how easy Pinoys swallow & spread false news because of our silly need for external validation. We simply just can’t be proud on our own. someone has to win internationally & someone has to be complimented by a foreigner. On the flip side we get angry & defensive when a foreigner insults the country, never mind that we say our country is crap every single day. Sabi nga ng makatang si Gloc-9 “Pilipino lang ako pag nananlo si Paquiao”…. sorry stream of consciousness semi rant.
On a tangent article, read this
WHY WE ARE SHALLOW
“We are shallow because our media are so horribly shallow. Every morning, I peruse the papers and there is so little to read in them. It is the same with radio — all that noise, that artifice.”
It’s easy to put the blame on local media, but it’s also a mirror. Inane showbiz news will not thrive if we are more interested on the developments (or lack there of) of the Ampatuan massacre than Shamcey’s boyfriend.
I agree with many things on the article, pero sana mag effort yung mga matatalinong tao na magbahagi ng importanteng opinyon sa tabloid tulad ng Abante, otherwise sayang lang, di rin nakakarating sa nakararami. Kaya bilib na bilib na bilib ako sa Word Of The Lourd.
