“Pilote Tout en Haut du Monde” / “Longway North” by Sacrebleu Productions.

Sasha, a young Russian artistocratic girl at the end of the 19th century, dreams of the Great North and languishes over Oloukine, her grandfather, a renowned scientist and Arctic explorer, who has not returned from his last expedition to conquer the North Pole.

He transmitted his vocation to Sasha which is far from satisfying her parents as they have already arranged for their daughter to marry.

She revolts against this destiny, flees and is resolved to going to join Oloukine a longway north.

I’m pretty sure I’ve already posted this before, but I’m doing it again because I like it so much.

A test from the upcoming “Avatar: Legend of Korra”, which will premiere (hopefully) later this spring.

To anyone who is as big a fan as I am of the Avatar series, they have a fan club on facebook now.

Check out the Tumblr of Bryan Konietzko, too, one of the creators of the show. He’s a cool guy.

Amazing! Look at all those fluid moves! Really excited for this show!

Kung Fu Cooking Girls Original animation movie (Abridged version) by Wolfsmoke

I’ve seen this video a couple of months ago, and still amazes me. Everything is just so dynamic and action-packed. If you’re into animation, watch this! It’s very inspiring for me.

Disney’s Mulan Deleted Scene: Reflection In my opinion, deleting this scene from “Reflection” was a terrible mistake. The song is beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but this added part takes a somewhat disparing song and makes being different empowering and strong.

meowmixeightysix:

Better version is better. Ahhhhh what I wouldn’t give to see this version fully animated. It’s still beautiful in this animatic form. I can see why they took this bit out because the version in the theatrical release fits the unsure and conflicted Mulan pretty well, but still. As a song and a personal exposition for the character of Mulan, this would have been an amazing full version of the song.

When I talked with Chris Sanders, he said how much the story team was trying to get “Reflections” out of the movie and were probably to get this into song instead. He explained how there’s a song at every big turning point in a story and the characters go into the song being one way and come out another. In “Reflections”, Mulan goes in sad and comes out sad which contradicts her character as a strong independent woman, making her seem mopey. But the studio already had the song and it had to be in the movie because it’s pretty and some famous singer gets a cover it.

Some famous singer ftw

Just sharing my process for my Something About Us animation. To save time, I made a lot of things simple. The shapes, the colors and the textures. I limited my colors to a single blue hue and a single yellow hue, and different shades of those colors. And then to create the texture, I only use one single brush, and made 3 different uh.. “densities”? With one grungy art brush (one of Adobe Illustrator’s default art brushes), I made 3 levels of roughness.
Looking forward to completing the whole thing. :)

And here’s a fun clip about Glen Keane’s process for improving the animation on Tangled. He would draw over the shot as a reference for the animators so they could push the animation to be as good as it can be.

Glen Keane is so awesome. Look at his face when he draws, lol.

So I’m doing an animated music video for the song Something About Us, by Daft Punk. And after a couple of months of putting it on hold (Due to the holidays, and got busy putting up a new site for the Color Cure) I decided to move forward with this personal video project of mine.  My goal is to do at least one frame each day. I have 4 frames down so far. I have a total of around 50 frames to do. Wish me luck? :D
If anyone wanted to know, I’m using Adobe Illustrator for this storyboard. :)
You can also take a look at a color test/teaser thing I made for this video.
